Area employers benefit directly from the proximity of these institutions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia<\/li>\n<li>Southern Arkansas University-Tech, Camden<\/li>\n<li>South Arkansas Community College, El Dorado<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Chemical Industry<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saustater.com\/gtedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2014\/12\/Albemarle.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-484 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saustater.com\/gtedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2014\/12\/Albemarle-300x143.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"143\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.saustater.com\/gtedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2014\/12\/Albemarle-300x143.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.saustater.com\/gtedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2014\/12\/Albemarle.jpg 325w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The manufacturing sites of Albemarle Corporation as well as Great Lakes Solutions, a Chemtura Corporation, were constructed to take advantage of the second largest bromine-rich brine reserve in the world located in the Golden Triangle Region of South Arkansas known as the Smackover Limestone Formation.<\/p>\n<p>Albemarle Corporation\u2019s Magnolia manufacturing operations make up one of the world&#8217;s largest suppliers of bromine and bromine chemicals. They have two plant sites in the Magnolia area.<\/p>\n<p>The Great Lakes Solutions&#8217; manufacturing sites located in El Dorado extract the brine from wells located throughout Union county. They have three manufacturing plants, along with support services.<\/p>\n<p>Each company has over 500 employees. They produce more than 30 different chemical ingredients used in the manufacturing of a wide range of chemicals. Among these products are flame retardants used in household plastics, fabric fibers and insulation material. Their products can be found in many consumer products used every day, including the plastic used in televisions and computers, bathroom disinfectants, soaps and carpeting.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Timber Industry<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saustater.com\/gtedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2014\/12\/Timber.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-485 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saustater.com\/gtedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2014\/12\/Timber-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"Timber\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.saustater.com\/gtedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2014\/12\/Timber-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.saustater.com\/gtedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2014\/12\/Timber-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.saustater.com\/gtedc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/17\/2014\/12\/Timber.jpg 1100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>In the lowlands of Arkansas lies the Gulf Coastal Plain. Covering south Arkansas, major communities in the region include Texarkana, El Dorado, Magnolia, Camden and Monticello, parts of Pine Bluff and Little Rock.\u00a0 Sandy, rolling hills harbor pine trees and hardwoods found along river bottoms.
